Categorising Hosters - The HosterStats Class
One of the hardest things in the hosting business is to actually classify hosters by the numbers of domains that they host. As a result, WhoisIreland.com has had to come up with the HosterStats Class. You can see it in action on the IEDR Resellers pages where each hoster has its own code. For example the largest hoster in Ireland, Hosting365 has a HosterStats Class of IE-HSP-D. Eircom.net has a HosterStats Class of IE-ISP-E.
The code itself is relatively simple:
The first two letters refer to the ISO code of the Country associated with the hoster. Thus for Ireland, that code is IE. For the UK, the code is UK and for the US, the code is US.
The next three letters refer to the hoster type. The ISPs are identified by the letters ISP. The pureplay hosters (Hosting Service Providers) are identified by the letters HSP. The web developers are WEB and the registries are identified by the letters REG.
The next letter refers to the number of domains that the hoster has hosted on its nameservers.
A: More than 1 Million domains hosted.
B: 100K - 999,999 domains hosted.
C: 50K - 99999 domains hosted.
D: 10K - 49999 domains hosted.
E: 5000 - 9999 domains hosted.
F: 1000 - 4999 domains hosted.
G: 500 - 999 domains hosted.
H: 100 - 499 domains hosted.
I: 10 - 99 domains hosted.
J: 1-9 domains hosted.
K: No Nameservers.
