The trademark issue is a whole can of worms that deserves a separate article John. It was completely obvious to anyone with experience of the domain name business that the simple rules would be gamed successfully. The Commission, their advisors and EUrid betrayed the people of the EU through incompetence and facilitated this fraud. Unless they take some action to solve the problem, it makes them willing accomplices to the crime.

Nice article attacking EURid, but woefully misdirected.
The problem lies with trademark law (especially Belgian trademark law), not with EURid.

Aim at the cause not the affect please.

Based on the number of fake "registrars" on the EUrid list, the number could be much higher. Then you have the abuse of low cost trademarks by made for registration companies in various EU countries. Many of these companies are paper or shell companies set up with the sole purpose of abusing the registration system during the Sunrise phases. The whole process seems to be utterly corrupt while observing the letter of the law.
