I’ve added a blog to the HosterStats.com website. The url is quite an obvious one: www.hosterstats.com/blog The new blog deals specifically with domain name issues, web hosting statistics and how the HosterStats.com website works.

The recent changes to .cn ccTLD registration rules have had a massive effect on the number of registered .cn domain names. The figures for .cn ccTLD from December 2009 to February 2010 show a decline of approximately 3.9 million domains over the period.
.cn ccTLD Registrations:
December 2009: 13,459,133
January 2010: 12,280,081
February 2010: 9,535,120
.de ccTLD Registrations:
Dec 2009: 13,313,247
January 2010:13,387,668
February 2010: 13,465,456
The domain statistics on HosterStats show that the new regulations introduced by CNNIC, the .cn registry have had an effect on the registration volume of .cn domains. However there is also a possible effect from a low cost domain registration offer that was run during the 2008 Olympics. The .DE ccTLD is still maintaining its growth pattern and is now the largest ccTLD.
